Rosa Parks

Did you know that Rosa Parks helped to start the civil rights act? If it wasn't for her, the world would be different.

In 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man because she thought that white people should have the same value as African Americans. They are both human beings and the only difference was that they had a different skin color. That made a lot of African Americans unhappy because she had the seat first, and that the white people should get the seat and the African Americans should stand, didn’t seem right. Rosa Parks had a couple of famous quotes and one of them was, ¨Each person must live their life as a model for others¨.

Rosa wanted to change racism so that everyone would be treated equally, There was a big protest about racial segregation and discrimination in the southern United States. The civil rights movement was all about the African Americans trying to end racial discrimination. Also to gain equal rights under the law the act started in the late 1940s and ended in the late 1960s. Keep in mind it took almost 20 years for African Americans to have equal rights.

Rosa Parks is an unsung hero today because many people know her for the great act she did, but when this action happened in 1955, not many people knew her and they didn't give her much respect. A lot of people thought she didn't give up her seat because she was tired but that was not the truth. In Rosa’s autobiography, she said “I was not tired physically… No, the only thing I'm tired was, was giving in. “That was also one of Rosa Park's famous quotes.

In conclusion, Rosa Parks was an unsung hero in 1955 she is very well known now and she helped people notice more about what was happening in the world.
